Recently, I was asked by a complete stranger while washing my horse if there was a way for her sister who lives down the street and receiving hospice to pat and smell a horse.
A few days later, Bella & I visited this very special person and we came to learn that she knew and worked with my dad and also worked with my hubby for almost 20 years! A total stranger to me was instantly connected through my dad and hubby. I had to hold back my tears.
Bella was amazing!! She stood still, breathed with her, rested her head on her lap, nickered, and closed her eyes while she spoke to her, laughed and stroked her head. They had beautiful moments together.
More visits will hopefully happen soon and maybe Bernie (named after my dad) will get to meet my new friend.
This special visit was the best day, and for the first time since March my work with my horses has filled my whole being more than I could ever imagine.
Even with masks, I forgot about COVID and felt somewhat normal for the first time in a very long time.
